Sydney McIvor (she/her) joined Durant Barristers in 2023 after practicing at a leading Toronto civil litigation boutique.

 

Sydney completed her articles as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, where she assisted judges on civil, criminal, family, and administrative law matters within the jurisdiction of the Superior and Divisional Courts and gained valuable insight into the judicial decision-making process. 

 

Sydney earned her J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. During law school, she completed legal internships with the World Bank Group and the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. Sydney was highly involved in student activities at Osgoode and was awarded the Dean’s Gold Key in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the student community. She also participated in the Oxford Price Media Law Court Competition as a member of the Osgoode team.

 

Prior to attending law school, Sydney obtained her honours B.A. in Economics from the University of Victoria.

 

Sydney has writings published in Appeal: Review of Current Law and Law Reform and Canadian Class Actions Review. She is currently the Co-Chair of LEAF Toronto.
