DISPUTES
The firm focuses primarily on professional liability matters and litigation for small businesses. It is our greatest passion to represent lawyer colleagues in their time of need either in negligence actions or before the Law Society Tribunal. We also represent individuals and corporations in various disputes before courts and tribunals in real estate disputes, negligence claims, and commercial matters.
Experienced with both trials and appeals, Durant Barristers is also willing to assist other lawyers take their matters to court either as agent, co-counsel or strategic advisor. Various flexible billing options are available for discussion depending on the nature of the dispute, length of commitment, complexity of matter and role required. Typically assistance is provided to small firms that need temporary additional bench strength or firms that require assistance with modern trial technology.
SIGNIFICANT INVESTIGATIONS AND REVIEWS
Erin Durant has significant experience conducting investigations for workplaces, municipalities, charities, not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions and sport associations including: harassment, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, fraud, code of conduct violations and Safe Sport complaints. In addition to fact-finding and disciplinary investigations, we are also available to conduct independent systemic reviews to improve culture, safety and compliance with best practices. Our team is also interested in assisting with public inquiries and other significant reviews or commissions in the public interest.
